The Padres have hired former Mets general manager Omar Minaya to work in their front office, according to two sources. Minaya, 53, became the first Hispanic general manager in baseball history when the Expos hired him in 2002. He ran the Mets from 2004 through 2010, when he was fired along with manager Jerry Manuel. The Padres will give Minaya a position along the lines of vice president of baseball operations.
