Red Sox designated hitter David Ortiz, the captain of the American League's Home Run Derby squad, has made two selections. Ortiz has added Boston first baseman Adrian Gonzalez and Toronto outfielder Jose Bautista to his stable of sluggers. He said he contacted Mark Teixeira, but New York's first baseman told reporters on Sunday afternoon that he didn't plan to go out to the All-Star festivities after not being selected to the AL roster. Teixeira has been in a battle with Bautista for the lead in home runs for the past few weeks. Ortiz mentioned Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano and Rangers outfielder Josh Hamilton as other options.
