The Dodgers kept Manny Ramirez out of the starting lineup for the third consecutive day on Saturday, but he made a pinch-hit appearance in the seventh inning. Ramirez struck out on a full count. He cleared waivers a few days ago and was claimed by the White Sox, who are trying to work out a trade with the Dodgers by a Tuesday deadline. Los Angeles said that Ramirez was out of the lineup on Saturday because of the large area he would have had to cover in left field at Coors Field. "It has nothing to do with all the gossip and all the waiver stuff," Dodgers manager Joe Torre said. "That has nothing to do with this."
