The Chicago White Sox have talked to the Los Angeles Dodgers about a trade for Manny Ramirez even though he has yet to clear waivers, according to major-league sources. The Dodgers, however, have spoken with at least one other team about Ramirez, and might not trade him if they continue to get back into the race, according to sources. The White Sox could claim Ramirez in an attempt to negotiate exclusively with the Dodgers, and one source said on Tuesday that Chicago indeed planned to pursue such a strategy. Ramirez wants a one-year contract extension to waive his no-trade clause, one source says.
