Mets general manager Omar Minaya told the New York Daily News that he is talking to other teams as the trade deadline approaches. "I turned down a couple trades (Wednesday)," Minaya told the Daily News. "Believe it or not, some pretty big names that were presented. That being said, if you talk to some GMs around the league, I've been calling around. We have some ideas. "Before I came up here (to meet with reporters), I had one of my assistants call a club on an idea in the same way we got (Jeff) Francoeur." However, Mets manager Jerry Manuel still doubts that a deal will be made as some of their injured players begin making progress. "I think we are getting good news somewhat out of Florida (about the Mets' rehabbing players). If we can get somebody back from there, that's what I'm looking forward to," Manuel said.
