No one can say the competitive fires do not rage inside Scott Proctor. No one can say he doesn't have that burning desire to succeed. So after Saturday's game, in which he allowed three runs and three hits in one-third of an inning, Yankees reliever Proctor made a pile of several items of personal gear, including his glove, on the gravel outside the Yankees' dugout and lit a match. While the equipment cooked, Yankees security personnel calmly watched the fiery scene and Proctor stewed. "I didn't think it was a big deal," he said. Neither did his teammates, who joked before yesterday's game, "Another day when I make the papers for the wrong reason," Proctor said.
