The New York Yankees have placed Giancarlo Stanton on the injured list with a strained left hamstring.

Stanton suffered the injury while running the bases during the second game of Saturday's doubleheader against the Tampa Bay Rays.

The 30-year-old was hitting .293/.453/.585 with three home runs and three doubles through 14 games.

Stanton played just 18 games last season because of a biceps strain followed by a knee injury.
