National League batting champion Freddy Sanchez agreed to terms on Saturday with the Pirates on a one-year contract worth $2.75 million, leaving Pittsburgh with only one unsigned arbitration-eligible player -- second baseman Jose Castillo. The Pirates also agreed to terms with veteran free-agent reliever Dan Kolb on a Minor League deal. Sanchez, who led the NL with a .344 batting average in 2006, also led the league with 53 doubles and finished 17th with a .378 on-base percentage. The 29-year-old was arbitration eligible for the first time and had been seeking $3.1 million; the Pirates offered $2.15 million. Sanchez was paid $342,000 in 2006 and $322,000 in '05. The Pirates had conversations regarding a multiyear contract with Sanchez, but the two sides settled on a one-year deal. "Freddy had a real nice year and helped us a great deal," Pirates senior vice president and general manager Dave Littlefield said. "He's also going to be part of the team for at least the next three years, so we feel good about that."
