Brett Myers became the fourth Phillie to avoid the arbitration process this offseason when he agreed to a three-year, $25.75 million contract extension on Thursday. The deal covers Myers' final two arbitration years and delays free agency until after the 2009 season. The 26-year-old right-hander avoided a hearing last season by agreeing to a one-year, $3.3 million pact. He'll be paid an average of $8.58 million a season under his new deal. "I've grown up in this organization, and this is where I want to stay," said Myers, a first-round draft pick by the Phils in the 1999 First-Year Player Draft. "I love pitching in Philadelphia, I love the ballpark, I love the fans, and having Charlie [Manuel] as the manager and guys like Chase Utley around for the next few years was a big part of my decision."
