The Brewers aren't prepared to concede the National League Central yet, but they won't mortgage their future to win now.

"If we make any more trades this year, it's going to be for two or three years from now instead of now," Doug Melvin said.

"I'm not going to be trading any young players to win games."

Milwaukee entered play on Tuesday in last place at 21-35, more than 16 games back of the first-place Cardinals.
