New York Mets left-hander Johan Santana underwent shoulder surgery for the second time in 31 months on Tuesday.
The 34-year-old was operated on at the Hospital for Special Surgery.
Mets medical director David Altchek repaired a tear in the capsule in the front of his left shoulder.
He will miss the entire season for the second time in three years.
