Tigers Seem Unlikely To Use Valverde As Closer Again

Jose Valverde struggled in the ninth inning against the Yankees on Saturday night, allowing them to force extra innings in Game 1 of the ALCS.

"[Jim] Leyland said rather definitively afterward that he'll mull changes. He didn't want to say what seems obvious, that Valverde can't be trusted anymore," writes Bob Wojnowski of Detroit News.

"We need to put our heads together as a staff and sit down and talk," Leyland said. "We have to try to figure out if there is something going on that maybe is being camouflaged."
