In the midst of another late-season collapse, the Pirates have been let down by both their offense and pitching in 2012.

Last year, Pittsburgh had a 3.43 ERA through July 31, 2011 then a 5.22 mark the rest of the way. Their offensive actually picked up in the final two months, posting a .686 OPS, which was up from .666 from April-July.

This season has been a different story.

Pittsburgh's ERA is 4.37 since Aug. 1 after standing at 3.55 at the end of July. The OPS was .706 on July 31 and .701 since.
