As the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline approaches, the values of Matt Garza and James Shields are increasing. Many expected Cole Hamels and Zack Greinke to be available, but Hamels is approaching a contract extension with the Phillies and Greinke's last start was skipped. With Hamels and Greinke possibly coming off the market, the Cubs and Rays might be able to get more for Garza and Shields, respectively. Chicago is willing to deal Garza, but is remains to be seen if Tampa Bay will do any more than entertain the idea of moving Shields.
