The Rockies are currently on a road trip that could define their season, but it won't shape their strategy heading into the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline. Outside of a few pieces, the Rockies have no plans to shed salary this month. The Denver Post confirmed that Colorado has received no request from ownership to shed salary, although pieces like starting pitcher Aaron Cook and third baseman Ian Stewart could be moved if a market develops. The Rockies will actually continue to pursue pitching. Following Thursday's action, they were 8 1/2 games behind the Giants in the National League West.
