The Pirates have claimed infielder Brandon Wood off waivers from the Angels. Los Angeles had designated the infielder for assignment earlier in the week. Wood reportedly drew interest from multiple teams, but the Pirates, by virtue of having the worst record in 2010, had first dibs on the waiver-wire claim.
