According to a friend, Gary Sheffield visited a third doctor and anticipated a season-ending injury on his wrist.
Manhattan-based hand specialist Dr. Charles Melone instructed Sheffield to rest his wrist completely for "10 to 14 days" so it can heal, Sheffield's attorney, Rufus Williams, said last night.
"It's unfortunate, because he wants to play," Williams said. "But it could've been worse."
