The Blue Jays could have outfielder Vernon Wells back in the lineup as early as next week, according to The Toronto Sun. He began a rehab assignment on Thursday night, just four weeks after injuring his left wrist while making a catch. The original timetable for his return was six-to-eight weeks. "He could be back the middle of next week if all goes well," manager John Gibbons said yesterday. "I didn't expect him to do anything for six weeks."
