Carpenter Wouldn't Turn Down Trade

Jun 6, 2014 7:33 PM

Chris Carpenter is open to a trade, but he knows one may be unlikely. St. Louis fully intends to contend even without righty Adam Wainwright, who will undergo Tommy John surgery and miss the entire season. With 10 years of service, Carpenter has the right to block any deal. "It's not up to me. If the Cardinals wanted to trade me, obviously I would go. There's no question about that," Carpenter said. "I'm not going hold back or veto or do anything like that if they're looking to move me. "I'm not concerned about, though. I'm concerned about getting myself ready to pitch at the beginning of the season."

Teixeira Won't Wave No-Trade Clause; Wants To Be Buried In Pinstripes

Oct 31, 2014 2:59 PM

Yankees first baseman Mark Teixeira says he will not waive his full no-trade clause under any circumstances, trying to put to rest speculation that he could be dealt to St. Louis for Albert Pujols. "I'm not going anywhere," Teixeira said. "I got that no-trade for a reason. I'm going to be buried in these pinstripes. You know what, I would be disappointed if the fans of New York weren't looking to make our team better, but they've just got to know I'm not leaving." ESPN.com, citing a baseball official, reported earlier this week the Yankees would not explore a trade for Pujols.

Twins Open To Dealing Liriano

Sep 15, 2014 7:37 AM

The Twins have six starting pitchers to fill five slots and they are surprisingly open to dealing left-hander Francisco Liriano. Liriano, 27, can become a free agent after the 2012 season. According to the Star Tribune, Minnesota doesn't plan to sign Liriano to a long-term deal. Last weekend, they avoided arbitration with a one-year, $4.3 million deal. It is believed that the lefty and his camp were seeking a three-year, $39 million deal.

Rangers Will Only Deal Young If They Can Get Better

Oct 31, 2014 11:38 AM

The Rangers are only going to trade infielder Michael Young if the deal can make them a better team. Texas CEO Chuck Greenberg said the Rangers are "looking at what the alternatives are" out of respect for Young, who has "made clear that he wishes to be traded." "We will only do that if we can grant his wish and still improve the ballclub," Greenberg said. "We made the decision quite some time ago that our best ballclub had Michael Young with a pivotal role on it and that's still our preference and we'll just to see how it all plays out."
