Arizona Mildly Refutes Drew Trade Report

Jul 7, 2014 11:26 AM

USA Today reported over the weekend that Arizona will listen to offers this off-season on shortstop Stephen Drew in an attempt to upgrade their starting pitching. One team executive noted that the organization always has and will listen to offers on just about every player but said Drew would rank among those least likely to be traded. The Diamondbacks have no other major league-ready shortstops in their organization, so dealing Drew would create a hole.

Cubs, Rays Could Become Trading Partners

Apr 19, 2014 10:35 PM

The Rays could become a trading partner with the Cubs for Milton Bradley. Tampa Bay was interested in signing Bradley before he inked a deal with Chicago. Pat Burrell has been a disappointment in the American League and could revive his career back in the senior circuit.

Source: Cubs Will Attempt To Trade Bradley

Oct 5, 2014 8:13 PM

The Cubs will attempt to trade disgruntled outfielder Milton Bradley, sources tell the Chicago Sun-Times. Cubs general manager Jim Hendry suspended Bradley for the remainder of the season on Sunday after he made a number of critical comments on Saturday. The team has reportedly been looking into moving Bradley since July, even if it means they have to eat a portion of the $21 million remaining on his contract.

White Sox Promise To Deal Josh Fields

Oct 5, 2014 7:35 PM

The White Sox will look to trade Josh Fields this offseason, with both sides agreeing the former first-round pick probably would be better off somewhere else. Fields wasn't going to speculate whether the Sox might have a change of heart. The one-time heir apparent to Joe Crede said he's done guessing about his future in the major leagues. "I used to try, and I would end up either disappointed or completely ecstatic," Fields said Wednesday. "Right now, I don't want to be on either side of that spectrum, so just staying in the middle. I'm going into the offseason not having a thought one way or the other. My wife and I are about to have our first kid, so I have enough to worry about. Hopefully, the thought of baseball won't come up for as long as I can get it out of my head."

Brewers Aren't Keen On Dealing Fielder

Sep 19, 2014 4:54 PM

When it was mentioned that some national baseball columnists have suggested the Brewers should trade their Prince Fielder for pitching this winter and rebuild the club, owner Mark Attanasio did not seem interested. "I think that would be a very easy way to cop out," he said. "We're not going to do that. Doug is very methodical and he's going to assess everything at the end of the season when all the data is in. "We certainly deserve the right to go look at that. If that seems like the right thing to do, we'll consider doing it. But it really seems like a cop-out to me to blow everything up. "It all makes for great Internet fodder and speculation."

Braves Will Put Vazquez Or Kawakami On Trade Market

Jul 14, 2014 4:50 AM

If the Braves re-sign Tim Hudson, which seems more likely by the day as Hudson continues to progress in his return from elbow-reconstruction surgery, the Braves will need to trade either Javier Vazquez or Kenshin Kawakami to free some salary and help bolster their lineup. ?Hopefully I?ll be here,? said Vazquez, recently named National League player of the week. ?I really want to be here. Hopefully they want me here, too.?

Uggla Sadly Anticpating Offseason Trade

Oct 11, 2014 5:29 AM

There is a good chance that Dan Uggla is traded this offseason. "I kind of thought about it the other day," Uggla said. "You get kind of sad because this is the team that gave me my first shot in the big leagues, and I made a lot of friends here." Uggla's salary could go as high as $8 million through salary arbitration. As such, there's a good chance the Marlins will trade him and fill his spot at second base with either Chris Coghlan or Emilio Bonifacio.

Marlins Would Like To Trade Hermida

Oct 11, 2014 5:49 AM

The Marlins would like to trade Jeremy Hermida this winter, but they are unlikely to get good value for the outfielder. Hermida is arbitration-eligible and one scout told the Miami Herald they will get little in a trade because teams "know there's no way the Marlins will tender him. And not many teams would tender him at that price [around $3.5 million]."

Zambrano 'Doesn't Care' If Cubs Trade Him

Jul 24, 2014 10:02 PM

Cubs pitcher Carlos Zambrano got defensive when asked by the Chicago Sun-Tines how he would handle being shopped this offseason. "I don't care," Zambrano said. "If the Cubs want to trade me, it's because they don't like me anymore. And I have to move on. What else can I do? Just move on." If the Cubs were to trade Zambrano, who has $54 million left on a contract that runs through the 2012 season, he would have to waive his no-trade clause. "I don't want to," Zambrano said of possibly waiving the clause before ending the interview.

Trading Granderson Could Get Tigers What They Need

Jun 2, 2014 6:35 AM

Curtis Granderson has struggled this season and the Tigers best move this offseason might be to trade the outfielder. He is hitting .248 this season, just two years removed from being the second player in history to rack up at least 20 home runs, 20 triples, 30 doubles, and 20 stolen bases. "I don't know, I'm not sure what it is," Granderson told the Detroit News. "My timing, for whatever reason, is off. And I think the same thing is happening against righties." His value may be decreasing, but trading Granderson for help in the infield and bullpen could be a possible move this winter, according to Lynn Henning of the Detroit News.
