Ankiel On Trade Rumors: They Were Stimulating

Oct 5, 2014 7:44 PM

Cardinals pitcher-turned-outfielder Rick Ankiel wasn't overly bothered by trade rumors involving his name this past winter. "It was stimulating for me," Ankiel said. "It was kind of nice to know another team wants you. ... That time of the offseason, you're in no man's land, you're working out and then you hear all these exciting rumors, guys signing and you never know what is going to happen. That's not me saying I would ever want to leave the Cardinals, but it was stimulating, mentally stimulating. "That was all new to me."

Sep 13, 2014 5:54 PM

Blue Jays general manager J.P. Ricciardi commented on rumors that the team could shop Roy Halladay at midseason recently. "We're still the same on that topic. If our ownership says, 'Hey, listen, our payroll next year can't be what it can be this year,' we'd have to exhaust every possible avenue before we go down that road," Ricciardi said. "That's not what we're looking to do." Halladay's contract has a full no-trade clause.
