Konerko Says He'd OK Trade If It Helps Sox

Oct 21, 2014 4:36 PM

Paul Konerko says that he would approve a trade from the White Sox if it helps the team going forward. "You never know, because the answer could be you help them by leaving," Konerko said. "I would never be opposed to that. It doesn't have to be a breakup that's antagonistic. It doesn't have to be a thing where heads are butted." Regardless, Konerko will always be loyal to the White Sox. "I'm here for this organization -- whether I play for another team or whatever, it won't matter. I'll always be a member of the White Sox. If it ever got to a point like that where it's better for me, better for the team -- I would also look at the team I'm going to because I feel like you do go through hell to get that right. Only a small percentage of players get that right and I've got it, but again, we all hear that if we're not playing well this year, they're going to do something."

Will Jays Deal Halladay At Deadline?

Sep 21, 2014 3:16 PM

The Blue Jays could be a seller at this July's trade deadline if they are far behind the Yankees, Red Sox and Rays in the AL East. Ace Roy Halladay could be a prime candidate. "Ownership wants no part of trading Roy at this time," general manager J.P. Ricciardi said. "He's the face of the organization. Right now we are not thinking about going down that road. But that is what we feel in February. Who knows how you feel in June?" Two sources say Toronto tried to trade Vernon Wells during the offseason. Scott Rolen and Lyle Overbay also could be dump candidates. However, B.J. Ryan and Halladay could help fetch 5-6 prospects to accelerate a Blue Jay rebuild.
