Brewers Sign Gio Gonzalez

The Milwaukee Brewers have agreed to terms on a deal with Gio Gonzalez.

The left-hander opted out of his Minor League deal with the New York Yankees over the weekend.

Gonzalez will reportedly receive a base salary of $2 million with incentives on top of that.

The expectation is that he'll start for the Brewers.

Khris Davis Signs Two-Year, $33.5M Extension With A's

The Oakland Athletics have signed Khris Davis to a two-year extension worth $33.5 million.

Davis is batting .260 with a major league-leading 10 home runs and 20 RBIs this season.

"Oakland has been a special place for me since I arrived," Davis said in a statement issued by the team. "I love playing here in front of our fans, and my teammates make this feel like a family. I never hid the fact that I wanted to stay in Oakland because that is how I feel and I'm glad that I can continue to call the city of Oakland my baseball home.

"This team has a bright future, and I'm thrilled to be a part of it."

Braves Extend Ozzie Albies Through 2027 Season

The Atlanta Braves have locked up Ozzie Albies through the 2027 season.

Albies has been signed to a seven-year, $35 million contract extension that includes options for 2026 and 2027.

Both of the options are worth $7 million.

The St. Louis Cardinals have agreed to a two-year, $37 million contract extension with Matt Carpenter.

The deal also includes an option for the 2022 season.

Carpenter, 33, has a $14.5 million salary this season as part of a $52 million, six-year deal that included an $18.5 million club option for 2020 with a $2 million buyout.

Under the new deal, he has guaranteed salaries of $18.5 million in both 2020 and 2021.

Cubs infielder David Bote, who burst onto the national scene with a walk-off grand slam last season on Sunday Night Baseball, has been rewarded with a new, five-year deal through the 2024 season.

Bote, 25, will make $15 million guaranteed over the course of the contract, which begins in 2020. The Cubs hold team options of $7 million for 2025 and $7.6 million for 2026, with a buyout of $1 million, that could increase the value of the deal to $28.6 million if exercised, a source told ESPN.

Shortstop Xander Bogaerts and the Boston Red Sox have agreed to a six-year extension, the team announced Monday.

The deal is worth $132 million, sources told ESPN's Jeff Passan.

The deal, which was first reported Sunday as being close by Boston radio station WEEI, includes the $12 million the 26-year-old Bogaerts was scheduled to make this season, then $120 million over the final six years.

The deal, according to sources, will include an opt-out clause that Bogaerts can exercise following the 2022 season, when he will be 30 years old.
