Yanks Irked By Ortiz All-Star Promotion

May 23, 2008 2:10 PM

State Farm is sponsoring a "Call Your Shot" promotion at the Homerun Derby during All-Star Game festivities at Yankee Stadium. The promotion also lets fans predict where Ortiz will hit the ball through an online contest. The Yankees were unaware of the promotion until a reporter contacted them Thursday night. Even though the game is at Yankee Stadium, the events surrounding All-Star Weekend are managed by Major League Baseball. It is therefore unlikely that the Yankees could stop Ortiz from playing the Babe in The House That Ruth Built.
