Trevor Bauer is facing allegations of assault by a woman stemming from a sexual encounter earlier this year.

The Pasadena (CA) Police Department said it is investigating the alleged assault, which it says occurred around the middle of May.

Major League Baseball has been made aware of the allegations against Bauer and will look into the matter, a source said.

Marcell Ozuna was released from jail after posting $20,000 bond Monday on charges of aggravated assault by strangulation and battery against his wife.

The Atlanta Braves star was jailed Saturday after police officers in the Atlanta suburb of Sandy Springs said they witnessed him attacking his wife, Genesis, while responding to a 911 call.

Ozuna could face a long suspension by Major League Baseball, which plans to review the matter under the joint domestic violence policy in place between MLB and the players' union.
