Werth To Serve Five Days For Reckless Driving

Jayson Werth has pleaded guilty to reckless driving and has been sentenced to five days in jail for driving 105 mph on the Capital Beltway.

Werth was convicted last month in Fairfax County and sentenced to 10 days in jail, but he appealed his conviction to Circuit Court.

Banks, a two-time National League MVP who spent his entire major league career with the Cubs, died Friday at the age of 83.

The charges stem from allegedly false insurance claims filed last year connected to Lilly's damaged recreational vehicle.

A-Rod Meets With New MLB Commissioner

In an effort to find some closure after the confrontational Biogenesis case that led to his season-long drug suspension, Alex Rodriguez met with new commissioner Rob Manfred this week, sources confirmed to ESPNNewYork.com.

Rodriguez initiated the get-together between the two even though, with his suspension complete, he is considered in good standing in the eyes of MLB. There were no lawyers on hand, and it was said to be a positive discussion.

The New York Post first reported the meeting took place.

'Mr. Cub' Ernie Banks Dies At Age 83

"Mr. Cub" Ernie Banks, the Hall of Fame slugger and two-time MVP who never lost his boundless enthusiasm for baseball despite years of playing on losing Cubs teams, died Friday night. He was 83.

The Cubs announced Banks' death, but did not provide a cause.

"Words cannot express how important Ernie Banks will always be to the Chicago Cubs, the city of Chicago and Major League Baseball. He was one of the greatest players of all time," Tom Ricketts, chairman of the Cubs, said in a statement released by the team.
