Yasiel Puig Arrested After Traffic Stop

Yasiel Puig, the top prospect of the Los Angeles Dodgers, was arrested early Sunday in Chattanooga, Tenn., and charged with speeding, reckless driving and driving without proof of insurance.

Puig is on the seven-day disabled list at Double-A Chattanooga with a sprained left thumb.

"We're aware of the situation and we take it very seriously," a Dodgers spokesman said. "We'll be handling discipline internally."

The Dodgers signed Puig, 22, to a seven-year, $42 million contract last June.

Former Braves Pitcher Rick Camp Dies At 59

Rick Camp, who once posted consecutive seasons with a sub-2.00 ERA as a Braves reliever, reportedly died Thursday. He was 59, according to an MLB.com report.

According to the Atlanta Journal-Constitution, authorities said there was nothing that suggested Camp's death was a result of anything other than natural causes.

Yovani Gallardo Arrested For DUI

Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Yovani Gallardo was arrested and charged with drunken driving on Tuesday after he was traveling on a highway near Miller Park with a blood-alcohol content nearly three times the legal limit.

"He was very cooperative," Milwaukee County sheriff's spokeswoman Fran McLaughlin said. "He said he had a couple of beers."

The arrest report says Gallardo had red glassy eyes, slurred speech and an odor of alcohol, and that he failed field-sobriety tests. Authorities say a breath test revealed a blood-alcohol level of 0.22, nearly three times the legal limit of 0.08.

San Jose Mayor Wants To Discuss A's With Selig

Saying he hopes to keep the matter out of the courts, San Jose Mayor Chuck Reed has requested a meeting with commissioner Bud Selig to discuss the A's pursuit of a San Jose ballpark.

Reed's letter, asking for the sit-down, said a meeting would also help "resolve any lingering issues about our commitment to having the A's home plate be located in San Jose," the San Jose Mercury News reported.
