Phillies Fan Charged With Offering Sex For World Series Tix

A lawyer for a Philadelphia woman charged with offering sex for World Series tickets says she is "a nice lady overcome with Phillies fever." Lawyer William J. Brennan says Susan Finkelstein might have dropped double entendres in her Craigslist ad but never explicitly offered sex. Brennan says the 43-year-old University of Pennsylvania graduate student wanted to take her husband to a game between her beloved Philadelphia Phillies and the New York Yankees. Brennan says the self-described "buxom blonde" was trying to score tickets online, as she had in the past.

McCourt Opposes Wife's Return To Team

Dodgers owner Frank McCourt filed papers on Wednesday opposing his wife's demand to be reinstated as the team's chief executive. He cited insubordination and an affair she allegedly had with her bodyguard. McCourt filed the paperwork one day after Jamie McCourt filed divorce papers seeking to regain her $2 million-a-year job.

TBS announcer Ron Darling owes $544,197 in state and federal taxes, the Detroit News reports, citing liens filed against the Hawaii native in New York and Contra Costa, Calif. Darling, who won a World Series ring with the Mets in 1986, couldn't be reached for comment. Turner Sports spokesman Jeff Pomeroy said, "We will not comment as this is a personal issue."

The Cubs filed for Chapter 11 bankruptcy protection on Monday, a move that will allow their owner to sell the team in an $845 million deal. A hearing was scheduled for Tuesday in front of the judge who has been handling the bankruptcy of the Cubs' owner, Tribune Co. The filing is part of the Tribune Co.'s plans to sell the team, Wrigley Field and related properties to the family of billionaire Joe Ricketts, the founder of Omaha, Neb.-based TD Ameritrade.

A Florida girl who grabbed Ryan Howard's 200th career home run has gotten the ball back after suing the team. Jennifer Valdivia, 12, scooped up the ball this summer when the Phillies where in Miami playing the Marlins. She was then escorted to the Phillies clubhouse and then exchanged it for an autographed ball. The girl's mother filed a lawsuit Monday seeking the home run ball's return.

Boras Sues Sheffield For $600k

Scott Boras has served former client Gary Sheffield with a $600,000 lawsuit. Boras filed the suit under seal in Manhattan federal court last week. The two have been feuding since Sheffield dumped Boras just before he signed a $39 million contract with the Yankees, from whom he played from 2004 to 2006. But Boras has claimed Sheffield still owes him money.

A New York judge has rejected a bid to block the release of a book that alleges Ted Williams' severed head was mistreated at its Arizona facility. State Supreme Court Judge James Yates ruled Monday that Larry Johnson can discuss and promote his book, the New York Daily News reported. Johnson, the author of "Frozen" and a former executive at the Alcor Life Extension Foundation, claims a technician took swings at Williams' frozen head with a monkey wrench.

Report: Police Called To Cabrera's House

Police records indicate that there was "family trouble" at the home of Tigers first baseman Miguel Cabrera over the weekend. Officers responded to a call at about 6 a.m. Saturday. The complaint was reportedly filed by Cabrera's wife, Rosangel Cabrera. Miguel Cabrera showed up at Comerica Park for Saturday's game against the White Sox with scratches on his face.
