Trevor Story Enjoying Historic RBI Streak

May 27, 2022 7:55 AM

Trevor Story continued his run as one of baseball's hottest hitters during the Boston Red Sox's 16-7 win over the Chicago White Sox on Thursday.

"Times like this are rare," Story said. "[It’s] a great feeling. I'm trying to just live in the moment and have good at-bats when I can."

His four RBIs on Thursday gave him 21 over his last seven games. It's the most by any Red Sox player over a seven-game span within a single season since 1920 and the most in MLB history since Edwin Encarnacion plated 21 from Aug. 23-30 in 2015, per Elias Sports Bureau.

Story also extended his month’s total to 32 RBIs, which is tied for seventh-most all-time in May.

Nathan Eovaldi Becomes Third Pitcher To Allow 5 HRs In One Inning

May 18, 2022 8:21 AM

Nathan Eovaldi became the third pitcher in Major League history to allow five home runs in one inning Tuesday night.

In his start against the Houston Astros at Fenway Park, Eovaldi lasted just 1 2/3 innings, allowing eight hits and six earned runs while striking out none.

In the second inning he allowed homers to Yuli Gurriel, Michael Brantley, Jeremy Pena, Kyle Tucker and Yordan Alvarez.

"In the past, I feel every time I've faced the Astros, they came out swinging, and try to jump on the fastball," Eovaldi said. "I was able to locate it in the first, had a quick first inning. Tried to do the same thing the second inning, and they didn't miss."

The other two pitchers to match Eovaldi were Chase Anderson in 2020 and Michael Blazek in 2017.

Christian Yelich Makes History With Third Cycle Of Career

May 12, 2022 7:57 AM

Christian Yelich joined a rare club on Wednesday, hitting for the third cycle of his career during the Milwaukee Brewers' loss to the Cincinnati Reds.

Yelich's three career cycles tie him with five other players for the all-time Major League lead.

Trea Turner was the most recent player to accomplish the feat, doing so on his birthday last season.

All three of Yelich's cycles have come against the Reds, who have allowed 20 cycles in their history, second most to the St. Louis Cardinals (24) all time.

Yelich, 30, is the first player to hit three cycles against a single team.
