Shin-Soo Choo Extends On-Base Streak To 44 Games

Jul 5, 2018 9:46 AM

Shin-Soo Choo homered on Wednesday to extend his on-base streak to 44 games.

Choo is tied with Otis Nixon for the second-longest on-base streak in Texas Rangers history. Julio Franco holds the club record of 46 games in 1993.

"He's just an on-base machine," Delino DeShields said. "That's what he does."

Choo also has hits in 14 of his last 15 games and holds a .472 on-base percentage during that span.

Yankees Set Team Mark For Pre-Break Home Runs

Jul 2, 2018 8:30 AM

The New York Yankees hit a season-high six home runs in their 11-1 win over the Boston Red Sox on Sunday night.

Aaron Hicks became just the third Yankee to have a three-homer game against the Red Sox, joining Lou Gehrig (1927) and Mark Teixeira (2010).

"It feels awesome to be able to be lucky enough to hit three home runs," Hicks said. "I blacked out after the third one. I kind of didn't know what to do. It's exciting. I was really excited after it went out."

The Yankees have set a new team mark with 137 home runs prior to the All-Star break. New York's previous high of 134 came in both 2002 and 2012.
