Keon Broxton clubbed a massive home run on Thursday against the St. Louis Cardinals, the longest home run ever hit at the current incarnation of Busch Stadium.

Broxton's blast traveled 489 feet. The previous record was a 477-foot bomb by Brandon Moss last season.

The home run was the second-longest among all Major Leaguers this season. Aaron Judge hit a 495-foot blast last weekend.

Clayton Kershaw recorded the 2,000th strikeout of his career on Friday night against the Milwaukee Brewers.

He is the 79th Major League pitcher to accomplish the feat.

Kershaw and the Dodgers also matched a Major League record for strikeouts in a game with 26. The game went 12 innings.

The left-hander pitched eight innings and finished with 14 strikeouts, one shy of his career high.

"It will be cool someday. I guess when you retire you look back at that stuff,'' Kershaw said about the milestone.

Giancarlo Stanton homered on Friday night, giving him sole possession atop the Miami Marlins' all-time RBI list.

Stanton has 579 RBIs in his career, all with the Marlins. He broke a tie with Mike Lowell for first place on the franchise list.

"Young franchise, right?" Don Mattingly said. "But obviously Giancarlo's really good. This is kind of what you envision. ... And I think he's getting a lot more help now."

Major League players clubbed 1,060 home runs during the month of May, the second-highest total for a single month in baseball history.

The record was set in May 2000 when 1,069 home runs were hit.

Of the 1,060 homers hit in May, 630 of them were solo shots; the rest (430) came with runners on base, including 16 grand slams.
