Joey Votto saw 3,033 pitches this past season, the most of any Major League hitter.

Mike Trout was second, seeing 18 fewer than Votto.

Votto had 73 RBIs in 2013, leading many to suggest he should become more aggressive at the plate.

Arizona Will Live With Trumbo's Ks In Exchange For Power

Dec 2, 2014 7:35 AM

It has become harder to find power in the post-steroid era, which is why the Arizona Diamondbacks traded for Mark Trumbo last week.

Kevin Towers will live with Trumbo's high strikeout total and low on-base percentage if he brings 30-plus home runs and close to 100 RBIs.

"Just looking at the West, and looking at the National League and looking at the free agent market going forward, I just don't know where you're going to find power," Towers said. "If 180 strikeouts translates into 40 homers and 150 or 120 RBIs, and Goldie has another [Paul] Goldschmidt type year, we'll be happy with those two big right-hand bats in the lineup.

"With power is going to come with strikeouts. Just didn't want to have an entire lineup, or two-thirds of our lineup that was all lots of strikeouts, and I think we don't have that."

Trumbo hit .234/.294/.453 with 34 home runs, 100 RBIs and 184 strikeouts in 2013.
