He is 0-4 with 5.05 ERA this season.

"Any guy who has been around as long as he has, he kind of knows what he feels and knows what most likely will work," Mike Matheny said. "We're just trying to get ahead of it right now, just looks like it's going to take a little time."

Padres Place Mike Clevinger On IL With Triceps Strain

May 24, 2022 8:37 AM

The San Diego Padres have placed Mike Clevinger on the 15-day injured list because of a triceps strain.

The move was made retroactive to Saturday.

Clevinger felt tightness in the area of his right triceps after pitching five scoreless innings last Tuesday against the Philadelphia Phillies. He didn't pitch at all in 2021 after recovering from his second Tommy John surgery.

"It's a little spot in his triceps that's not bad," Bob Melvin said. "But we've come so far with him and he was so good last time out, we just don't want any hiccups. ... He wants to pitch, but we just don't want any setbacks with him. It's too early in the season to try to push him at this point."

Clevinger is 1-0 with a 3.21 ERA in three starts this season.

According to the Brewers, Peralta has a posterior shoulder strain.

"He is going to miss a significant amount of time," Craig Counsell said. "He will be back this season, but it's going to be a lengthy absence. We're confident that there's going to be no aftereffects to this thing, but it's going to take a while to heal and then build it back up."

Peralta exited his Sunday start against the Nationals complaining of tightness. He was 3-2 with a 4.42 ERA through his first eight starts.
