The San Francisco Giants announced Monday night that the veteran infielder would undergo the procedure in Los Angeles, performed by Dr. Steven Shin. A timeline for his return isn't immediately clear.

Longoria, 36, was limited to 81 games last season because of a sprained left shoulder he injured July 5.

Braves' Ronald Acuna To Sit Out Spring Amid Knee Rehab

Mar 23, 2022 9:18 AM

Ronald Acuna, Jr. won't play in any exhibition games, even as a designated hitter, for the Atlanta Braves as he continues to rehab a knee injury.

"No. You won't see him in a spring game," Brian Snitker said.

It's also increasingly likely Acuna will miss the first month of the regular season.

Acuna, recovering from a torn ACL in his right knee suffered midway through last season, expressed hope at the start of spring training that he would be ready for the defending World Series champion Braves' opener April 7.
