Lance McCullers, Jr. May Not Be Ready For Opening Day

Feb 25, 2022 8:02 AM

The Houston Astros may be without Lance McCullers, Jr. to begin the season.

McCullers, Jr. suffered a flexor tendon strain in Game 4 of the ALDS. He was then left off the ALCS and World Series rosters.

During an appearance on Maanav's Sports Talk, McCullers admitted the injury was "much worse than we were putting off ... I had a pretty good strain in my flexor tendon in my forearm, it was off the bone quite a bit."

He added he is "behind" in his rehab work and may not be ready for Opening Day.

Rangers Top Prospect Josh Jung Has Shoulder Surgery

Feb 24, 2022 8:40 AM

Texas Rangers top prospect Josh Jung had surgery Wednesday to repair a torn labrum in his left shoulder.

Jung was lifting weights before the opening of the team's minor league camp when he felt discomfort in his non-throwing shoulder. He was initially diagnosed last week with a strain.

"That was the impetus for us getting a test on his shoulder, which revealed a level of damage that obviously has required surgery," general manager Chris Young said. "The extent of preexisting damage in there, we're not certainly sure. But all in all, we know it's repaired at this point."
