The Diamondbacks placed valuable utility man Chris Owings on the 60-day disabled list Monday, shortly after acquiring infielder Adam Rosales in a trade with the Athletics.

Jays shortstop Troy Tulowitzki has ligament damage in his injured right ankle and will be further evaluated by a specialist.

The Jays announced the results of Tulowitzki's MRI on Sunday, one day after the veteran shortstop was placed on the 10-day DL with what the team described as a right ankle sprain.

The Braves have placed outfielder Matt Kemp on the 10-day disabled list after he strained his right hamstring during Friday's game.

Kemp suffered the injury running the bases in the fourth inning of Atlanta's loss to the Phillies. He was thrown out at second base and then removed from the game in between innings.

The 32-year-old is hitting .290 this season with 14 home runs and 48 RBIs.

The Blue Jays have placed Troy Tulowitzki on the 10-day disabled list after he sprained his right ankle trying to beat out an infield grounder Friday against the Angels.

Clayton Kershaw participated in a pregame catch Friday, a brief workout that could force the Dodgers to rethink the timetable for their injured ace.

The Dodgers said it would be four to six weeks before Kershaw returned to the mound after a back injury forced him out of his most recent start after two innings. That caution lasted four days.

"He came in yesterday and felt really good," manager Dave Roberts said. "So the medication, obviously, he responded to. For him to get the go-ahead to start playing catch again, I think that's ahead of where we all anticipated, so I'm going to be cautiously optimistic."

Nationals starter Stephen Strasburg was removed from Sunday's game in Arizona after only two innings because he experienced some stiffness in his throwing arm.

Manager Dusty Baker said the 29-year-old right-hander was taken out as a precaution and would be evaluated by team doctors Tuesday after the Nationals return to Washington.

Clayton Kershaw let go of a slider and winced. It was the top of the second inning on a Sunday afternoon, 99 games into the Dodgers' first-place season and eight days before the non-waiver trade deadline, and Kershaw's back was acting up again.

He finished the inning but came out of the game. He was diagnosed with what the team referred to as tightness on the right side of his lower back and will be placed on the 10-day disabled list.

Astros third baseman Colin Moran is on the 10-day disabled list after he suffered a facial fracture during Saturday's game, the team announced Sunday.

Moran left the 8-4 win over Baltimore in the sixth inning, when he fouled an inside pitch from Orioles reliever Darren O'Day straight up and into the area near his left eye.

New York Yankees second baseman Starlin Castro will be placed on the disabled list with another injury to his right hamstring, manager Joe Girardi said Saturday.

Carlos Correa is expected to miss six to eight weeks with a torn ligament in his left thumb, the Houston Astros have announced.

Correa will require surgery.

Marwin Gonzalez is expected to see the bulk of the playing time at shortstop in Correa's absence.
