The Los Angeles Dodgers are considering calling up top prospect Gavin Lux in September, according to a report.

Lux was the club's first round pick in 2016.

Lux, 21, is a natural shortstop who has played some second base throughout this minor league career.

MLB Rejected Dodgers' Request To Wear Traditional Uniforms

Aug 26, 2019 7:49 AM

With the Los Angeles Dodgers and New York Yankees facing off this weekend, the Dodgers filed a request with Major League Baseball to have the clubs wear their traditional uniforms for one game.

Since it was Players' Weekend, every team wears either an all-white or all-black uniform.

Major League Baseball denied the request despite the fact that the Yankees and Dodgers were also playing on Sunday Night Baseball.

Yankees Seek 'Good Explanation' From MLB On Controversial Play

Aug 26, 2019 7:41 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers defeated the New York Yankees 2-1 on Saturday.

The Yankees loaded the bases against Kenley Jansen with one out in the ninth inning, but were unable to score the tying run.

There was, however, some controversy. With runners on first and second and one out, Gio Urshela hit what looked like a potential game-ending 5-4-3 double play ball, but Brett Gardner broke it up with a slide into second base. The slide was clean -- Gardner slid right into the bag -- and, in fact, replays showed Gardner was safe because he beat the throw.

Gleyber Torres, the runner at second base to begin the play, scampered home from third to score the tying run.

However, replays showed Gardner beat the throw to second base, and Torres was sent back to third base because home plate umpire Gabe Morales called time. Replays showed Morales called time when Torres a little less than halfway to home plate.

The play at second base is not in question. Replays make it clear Gardner not only slid directly into the bag, thus satisfying the second base collision safety rules, but that he also beat the throw and was safe on the play. The controversial play is Morales granting time as Torres was heading home.

Dodgers Consider Limiting Hyun-Jin Ryu

Aug 24, 2019 4:40 PM

Hyun-Jin Ryu is reaching unfamiliar territory with his workload and, whether as a direct correlation or sheer coincidence, has struggled in recent starts, allowing 11 runs over his last 10 innings.

In hopes of mitigating potential fatigue, the Dodgers are considering the possibility of either skipping one of Ryu's upcoming turns through the rotation, lengthening the amount of days between starts or shortening his outings moving forward. "I'll have that conversation with Hyun-Jin," manager Dave Roberts said, "and we'll see what's best for him."

Dodgers Begin Process Of Extending Netting

Aug 21, 2019 7:34 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers have begun the process of extending the protective netting at Dodger Stadium.

The existing netting behind home plate and extending to the end of each dugout has already been raised from 25 to 33 feet. When the Dodgers return for their homestead on Sept. 2, the netting will be extended down each foul line to the point where the wall angles toward the outfield corners.

The second phase of the process will be executed while the Dodgers play in San Diego and Arizona next week.

The Los Angeles Dodgers set a record for home runs during Friday night's win over the Atlanta Braves.

The Dodgers have hit 22 home runs in the last five games, setting an Major League record for a five-game stretch.

“I guess the numbers don’t lie -- we do hit the ball out of the ballpark,” Dave Roberts said. “I still stand by the fact our bat quality is as good as there is in the big leagues.”

"We project him to be a starter for us next year," Dave Roberts said, "and many years to come."

His most likely role for the remainder of the season appears to be as a multi-inning reliever.

Aug 2, 2019 1:21 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers will no longer use Joc Pederson as a regular option at first base, a move initially intended to get him into the same lineup with Max Muncy and Alex Verdugo.
