Dodgers To Extend Netting After Another Fan Hit

Jun 25, 2019 7:47 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers plan to extend the netting at Dodger Stadium after another fan was hit by a foul ball Sunday.

The change will likely come this season.

"We have been talking for some time with different providers and looking at different options," team CEO and president Stan Kasten said. "Surely we will be expanding netting. I don't know yet the final configuration. Obviously there are some different choices to be made and different products which each come with their own set of challenges."

Kasten said he wasn't sure when the change would happen but that "I think it's likely" it gets done before the end of the season.

A young girl was taken to a hospital Sunday for precautionary tests after being struck in the head by a foul ball from Cody Bellinger during the first inning of a game against the Colorado Rockies.

Dodgers Get Third-Straight Rookie Walk-Off Win

Jun 24, 2019 8:22 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers got another walk-off victory from a rookie on Sunday as they bested the Colorado Rockies 6-3.

It was the third-straight game that a rookie produced a walk-off hit.

Will Smith, recalled from Triple-A on Sunday, hit a pinch-hit three-run home run in the bottom of the ninth on Sunday.

Alex Verdugo homered against the Rockies in the bottom of the 11th inning for a 5-4 victory on Saturday. Matt Beaty was the hero Friday when he hit a two-run homer in the bottom of the ninth to give the Dodgers a 4-2 victory over Colorado.

"Three games in a row is pretty remarkable. Just when you think it couldn't get any better, can't get any better, it does," Dave Roberts said. "Will just got here last night. To come out and play a big role in this game, speaks a lot to his preparation."

Yu Darvish: Return To Dodger Stadium 'A Big Deal'

Jun 15, 2019 1:37 PM

Dodger Stadium doesn't provide the best of memories for Cubs starter Yu Darvish, who'll try to exorcise more than one demon when he takes the mound there on Saturday night against his old team.

In 2017, Darvish helped the Dodgers get to the World Series before famously melting down over the course of two starts in the best-of-seven affair against the Astros.

"It's a big deal," Darvish said Friday of his return for the first time since Game 7. "I still have a lot of friends over there, but at the same time they are the best team in the National League. I have to beat those guys."

Dodgers Fear Corey Seager Has Serious Hamstring Strain

Jun 12, 2019 9:13 AM

Corey Seager suffered what the Los Angeles Dodgers fear is a serious hamstring strain on Tuesday night.

Seager won't know for sure until he undergoes an MRI on Wednesday, but Dodgers manager Dave Roberts said "early indications" were that Seager suffered a Grade "2-plus" strain, which typically comes with a recovery time around six weeks.

The Los Angeles City Attorney's office will not file charges against Julio Urias related to his arrest for domestic violence on May 13, as long as he meets several conditions.

He must complete a 52-week domestic counseling program and commits no acts of violence for the next year.

Urias could still face disciplinary action from Major League Baseball, which was investigating the incident.
