Dodgers Concerned With Puig's Emotions

Aug 30, 2014 1:40 AM

The Dodgers have become concerned enough about Yasiel Puig's nearly monthlong batting slump that manager Don Mattingly gave him Friday night's game in San Diego off, the second time the outfielder has been out of the starting lineup in the past week.

Mattingly said he sensed Puig's frustration level has, at times, taken him out of his game, according to an ESPN.com report.

Van Slyke Sprains Ankle, Blames Arizona's 'Bad Grass'

Aug 28, 2014 7:41 AM

Scott Van Slyke left Wednesday night's game against the Arizona Diamondbacks with what the Los Angeles Dodgers called a mild right ankle sprain.

He later blamed the Diamondbacks' grass for the injury.

"They've got bad grass here," Van Slyke said.

Van Slyke said the ground gave way beneath his ankle as he planted to throw. Replays showed that Van Slyke's ankle bent to almost a 45-degree ankle.

"That side of my ankle's loose, so I think it will be all right," he said. "I think it just went further than it normally does."

Mets Have Waiver Options For Colon

Aug 25, 2014 4:21 PM

The New York Mets have some options for Bartolo Colon if they want to trade him prior to Sunday's waiver deadline.

Colon has a 3.82 ERA and 5.91 strikeout-to-walk ratio this season, something that could attract contenders.

The Mets reportedly placed Colon on waivers this past weekend, opening the door for a potential move.

The Los Angeles Angels, Los Angeles Dodgers, Oakland Athletics and Pittsburgh Pirates could all be potential landing spots for the veteran right-hander.

Kershaw Moved Up As Dodgers Shuffle Rotation

Aug 21, 2014 9:41 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers have shuffled their starting rotation to give Zack Greinke some extra time off to deal with discomfort in his right elbow.

Clayton Kershaw was originally scheduled to start Friday against the New York Mets, but will instead take the mound on Thursday against the San Diego Padres on his normal four days of rest.

Greinke has been feeling something in his elbow for about three weeks, but has not missed a start. He underwent an MRI that revealed no structural damage.

Kershaw will get an extra day of rest before his next start, Don Mattingly said.

Dodgers, Ramirez Won't Negotiate Until After Season

Aug 17, 2014 9:46 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers will not be discussing a new contract with Hanley Ramirez until after the season, according to Stan Kasten.

Ramirez is currently on the disabled list with an oblique injury.

"Both sides have agreed we'll sit down and talk at the end of the season and decide," Kasten said. "As difficult a season as he's had physically, there is still lots of time for him to have an enormous impact for us."

Ramirez and the Dodgers discussed an extension at the beginning of the season, and Ramirez has voiced his desire to be a “Dodger for life."

The Chicago Cubs claimed Hamels on waivers last week, but were unable to come up with a package Philadelphia found suitable.

The Texas Rangers, Boston Red Sox, Cubs, Los Angeles Dodgers and Los Angeles Angels are seen as the major players for him this winter.
