Preparing For Trade, Peavy Cleans Out Locker

Jul 28, 2013 8:31 PM

Preparing for what seems like an inevitable trade from the Chicago White Sox, Jake Peavy has cleaned out his home locker.

"It is sad to think that this is probably my last day in here," said Peavy, who has spent four years with the club. "We all realize the reality of the situation and I am prepared with that to happen soon."

The Boston Red Sox, St. Louis Cardinals, Atlanta Braves and Los Angeles Dodgers have all been linked to Peavy.

The White Sox have kept Peavy and his agent informed on the process over the last two weeks.

"[GM Rick Hahn] has been outstanding through the whole time this has been talked about," Peavy said. "This is a tough situation for Rick to be in. I don't think any of us at the start of the season thought we would be in the shape we are in now. Rick has been open and honest, up front with me and my representation. I think anyone in this clubhouse would tell you Rick Hahn is a first-class individual and this is a first-class organization. We have been on the same page the whole time."

Rangers Could Trade Joe Nathan

Jul 28, 2013 10:48 AM

The Texas Rangers have had internal discussions about trading Joe Nathan, according to sources.

If they do so, it would be with the idea of capitalizing on a thin market for relievers.

Nathan, 38, instantly would become the most attractive closer available.

The Detroit Tigers, Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers are clubs looking for relief help.

Joakim Soria, Alexi Ogando or Neftali Feliz could replace Nathan as the team's closer.

Kemp: Braun Should Lose 2011 MVP

Jul 24, 2013 8:29 AM

Matt Kemp believes that Ryan Braun should be stripped of his 2011 NL Most Valuable Player award.

Kemp finished second in the voting that season. Braun was suspended for the rest of the season on Monday night.

Major League Baseball attempted to suspend Braun following a positive test that October for elevated testosterone, but the penalty was overturned by an arbitrator.

Asked Tuesday whether the award should be taken away from Braun, Kemp responded: "I mean, yeah, I do," pausing and adding, "I feel like it should be, but that's not for me to decide, you know?"

Kemp said people feel "betrayed" by Braun.

"I'm disappointed," Kemp said. "I talked to Braun before any of this happened, we had conversations and I considered him a friend. I don't think anybody likes to be lied to and I feel like a lot of people have felt betrayed. That's not just me, that's the whole Brewers organization, a lot of his teammates. I think a lot of people feel that way."
