Frank McCourt Tried To Keep Dodgers From Wife
An estate-planning attorney has testified that Frank McCourt told her last summer he would not sign a revised agreement that would share the Dodgers with his wife. Leah Bishop told a judge on Tuesday that she spent months drafting a new version of the postnuptial agreement that gave McCourt sole possession of the team. In the new agreement, Jamie McCourt would receive several expensive homes.
Kuroda Takes No-Hitter Into Eighth
Dodgers pitcher Hiroki Kuroda took a no-hitter into the eighth inning against the Phillies on Monday night. Los Angeles won their first game without Manny Ramirez 3-0 at Dodger Stadium. Shane Victorino, hitless in seven career at-bats against Kuroda, hit a clean line-drive single to right field on Kuroda's 97th pitch of the game to break up the no-hitter. "I got a good fastball to hit over the middle of the plate and belt-high, something I could handle," Victorino said. "Every other guy was going up there trying to get a base hit, too, but it just didn't happen."
Manny Ejected After One Pitch
Dodgers outfielder Manny Ramirez wasn't in the starting lineup for the fourth straight game on Sunday. He pinch-hit in the sixth inning and was promptly ejected after seeing one pitch. Ramirez took the first pitch from reliever Matt Reynolds, which appeared to be an inch or two off the outside corner. When plate umpire and crew chief Gary Cederstrom called it a strike, Ramirez immediately stepped out of the batter's box and began to protest to Cederstrom. Ramirez continued to talk for about five seconds before Cederstrom threw him out of the game. The White Sox secured a waiver claim on Ramirez last Friday, and the Dodgers have until Tuesday to work out a trade between the two clubs.
Manny Doesn't Start, K's As Pinch-Hitter
The Dodgers kept Manny Ramirez out of the starting lineup for the third consecutive day on Saturday, but he made a pinch-hit appearance in the seventh inning. Ramirez struck out on a full count. He cleared waivers a few days ago and was claimed by the White Sox, who are trying to work out a trade with the Dodgers by a Tuesday deadline. Los Angeles said that Ramirez was out of the lineup on Saturday because of the large area he would have had to cover in left field at Coors Field. "It has nothing to do with all the gossip and all the waiver stuff," Dodgers manager Joe Torre said. "That has nothing to do with this."
Would White Sox Waive No-Dreads Clause For Manny?
White Sox owner Jerry Reinsdorf has a rule against his players wearing dreadlocks, which might be a problem if the team acquires Manny Ramirez from the Dodgers. Chicago was awarded a waiver claim on Ramirez and the two teams have until Tuesday to work out a trade. Reinsdorf's rule isn't "set in stone," a club official said.

Dodgers 'Not Inclined To Move Anyone'
The chances of Manny Ramirez being traded to the White Sox now appear slim, as the Dodgers have played their way back into the playoff picture. "(We're) not inclined to move anyone," Dodgers general manager Ned Colletti told USA TODAY, "so long as we have a chance." "To play as well as we have," Dodgers manager Joe Torre said, "if this doesn't give us confidence, I don't know what the heck is going to do it."
Wallach, Baker Could Be Candidates For Dodgers If Torre Leaves
If Joe Torre decides not to return to the Dodgers in 2011, Triple-A manager Tim Wallach will be a leading candidate, according to sources. If the Dodgers elect to go for a more splashy hire, there are murmurs that Dusty Baker could be a candidate. Baker spent many seasons with the Dodgers during his playing career.
