Rockies Lose David Dahl To Rib Stress Reaction

David Dahl has been diagnosed with a stress reaction in his ribs and will be reevaluated in two weeks, according to the Colorado Rockies.

Dahl was scratched from the lineup last week with what was initially described as back soreness and was expected to miss a few days.

The Rockies are hoping Dahl can return to play in games before the end of spring training.

"Extended [absence] is, to me, like months -- this is not," Black said. "Baseball activity hopefully will start in a couple weeks. ... I do anticipate him getting into a game here. If not, then it doesn't happen."

Rockies Still Expect Greg Holland To Be Ready For Opener

Mar 2, 2017 7:04 AM

Greg Holland has yet to pitch in an exhibition game, but the Colorado Rockies remain optimistic that he'll be ready for the start of the regular season.

Holland, who signed with the Rockies in free agency, won't make his Cactus League debut until next week at the earliest. He underwent Tommy John surgery in 2015.

"As a competitor, you want to be out there. If you can't, it's demoralizing," Holland, 31, said. "But you have to understand that there is a right way and there is a science behind this. You have to stay patient with it, as hard as it is. I think I have done a pretty good job of that."
