Jul 30, 2019 2:57 PM

Trevor Bauer showed his frustrations after surrendering the Indians' lead to the Royals on Sunday by throwing a baseball from the mound over the center-field fence at Kauffman Stadium.

Bauer threw the ball as manager Terry Francona was coming on the field to take him out of the game. The Indians manager appeared upset at Bauer's actions and pointed to the dugout as he met the right-hander at the mound with one out in the bottom of the fifth inning. Bauer appeared to acknowledge that he was in the wrong, putting his hand on his chest as Francona met him.

Francisco Lindor Reacts After Foul Ball Strikes Child

Jul 22, 2019 7:55 AM

Francisco Lindor hit a home run that helped the Cleveland Indians beat the Kansas City Royals on Sunday, but he was more concerned about the young child who was struck by a line drive he hit.

Lindor said he was told his line drive, which went foul, sent a 3-year-old boy to the hospital.

"It stinks, man," he said. "You don't want to get nobody hurt. I have heard the kid is doing well. He's in the hospital. He's getting checked and all I know is he's in stable condition and he's doing good.

"In a way, that makes me happy, but it stinks, you don't want that to happen to anybody, especially a little kid."

The protective netting at Progressive Field runs to the end of each dugout. Lindor's line drive landed several sections beyond the netting and was about 12 to 15 rows into the stands.

"I encourage every MLB team to put the nets all the way down," Lindor said. "I know it's all about the fans' experience of interacting with players and I completely get that. You want to have that interaction with the fans, getting autographs and stuff, but at the end of the day, we want to make sure everybody comes out of this game healthy, and we got to do something about it."

Padres Are Most Serious Suitor For Trevor Bauer

Jul 21, 2019 2:52 PM

The San Diego Padres have emerged as the most serious suitor for Trevor Bauer ahead of the trade deadline, according to a source.

Bauer is under control through 2020 and the Padres are interested in making him the veteran anchor of their rotation.

The Padres could trade three young position players such as Franmil Reyes, Hunter Renfroe or Luis Urias in a deal with the Cleveland Indians.

A potential deal is complicated because the Indians have won five straight games and currently hold down one of the American League Wild Card spots.

Shane Bieber Named ASG MVP As AL Tops NL

Jul 10, 2019 7:30 AM

Shane Bieber was named the MVP of Tuesday night's All-Star Game as the American League edged the National League 4-3.

Bieber earned the honor by striking out the side in the fifth inning at Progressive Field.

He is the third player in All-Star Game history to win the MVP award in his home ballpark, joining Pedro Martinez at Fenway Park in 1999 and Sandy Alomar Jr. also in Cleveland in 1997.

"I really didn't know what to think," Bieber said. "Kinda lost all feeling in my body. But it's an incredible feeling now. Now that it's kind of sinking in, just to be able to do it in front of the hometown crowd in my first All-Star Game is definitely not something I expected."

Bieber wasn't named to the All-Star team until Friday, when he replaced Mike Minor, who wasn't eligible to play because he pitched Sunday.
