Dodgers, Phillies Making Push For Manny Machado

Jun 29, 2018 7:55 AM

The trade market for Manny Machado is heating up once again and the Los Angeles Dodgers and Philadelphia Phillies are the most aggressive suitors at this point, according to a source.

The Arizona Diamondbacks and Chicago Cubs are also contenders to acquire Machado from the Baltimore Orioles.

It remains unlikely that Machado is dealt until closer to the July 31 non-waiver deadline. He is also headed for free agency, which complicates the cost of acquiring him for what could be just a half-season.

Manny Machado Apologizes For Not Hustling To First Base

Jun 28, 2018 7:39 AM

Manny Machado has apologized for not running out a double-play ball in Tuesday night's game between the Baltimore Orioles and Seattle Mariners.

The game was tied 1-1 in the sixth inning when the Orioles loaded the bases. Machado bounced into a 4-6-3 double play, trotting on his way to first base.

Buck Showalter said what happened would "be addressed." The two spoke about it Wednesday, and Machado later apologized.

"At the end of the day, there's no excuse for not running it out," he said. "I take full responsibility for not running. I should have run hard. It looks bad. It looks bad for people who follow me, people who look up to me, and I fully apologize for letting people down; but next time, I'll run. There's no excuse for that."

O's Continue To Keep Chris Davis On Bench

Jun 17, 2018 12:38 AM

First baseman Chris Davis hasn't played since Monday for the Orioles, and manager Buck Showalter indicated before Friday night's loss to the Marlins that he doesn't expect that to change anytime soon.

"Chris is continuing with some things that he's working on, and when they come to me and say they think he's ready to get back in the lineup, I'll put him back in there, but it's nothing imminent," Showalter told reporters.

Davis is batting .150 with four home runs, 15 RBIs and 86 strikeouts in 52 games.

Chris Davis On Pace For Historically Bad Season

Jun 14, 2018 8:15 AM

Chris Davis is just one of the reasons why the Baltimore Orioles are struggling, but his issues at the plate have been historically bad.

Through 229 plate appearances, Davis was hitting .150/.227/.227.

There are 162 players that currently qualify for the batting title and Davis ranks last in batting average, slugging and OPS+. He's second-to-last in on-base percentage.

Davis has appeared in 59 games and scored just 10 runs, four of which came on his own home runs.

From 2013-15, Davis slugged 126 home runs.

Jun 9, 2018 1:40 AM

The Baltimore Orioles are now engaging teams regarding Manny Machado.

According to the report, the Philadelphia Phillies are among the clubs the Orioles are negotiating with currently.

"We don't need to negotiate in the press," Dan Duquette said, "but I can tell you there are more teams interested now (than the winter). If you're interested in making an impact, this is the player."

A Phillies-connected source suggested the Orioles are asking for four young players.
