The Orioles top priority ahead of the July 31 non-waiver trade deadline is adding a starting pitcher, according to sources.

Dan Duquette would only say, "we're looking," when asked about his team's pursuit of a starter earlier this week.

According to sources, Baltimore is looking at Miami's Ricky Nolasco, San Diego's Edinson Volquez and Andrew Cashner, the Chicago Cubs' Matt Garza and Scott Feldman, the Chicago White Sox's Jake Peavy and Houston's Bud Norris.

There were a number of rival scouts at Thursday's Cubs game with Matt Garza on the mound.

The Nationals, Dodgers, Orioles, Blue Jays and Phillies saw Garza earn the win over the Brewers.

He struck out 10 batters over seven innings, allowing a single earned run.

Dylan Bundy will undergo Tommy John ligament replacement surgery on his right elbow on Thursday.

Bundy is Baltimore's top pitching prospect.

He was re-examined in Florida by Dr. James Andrews on Wednesday after suffering a setback during his rehab earlier in the week. He will be sidelined for approximately 12 months.

Bundy was the fourth overall pick in the 2011 First-Year Player Draft

The Marlins are working to trade Ricky Nolasco sooner rather than later.

The Orioles, Yankees, Diamondbacks, Padres, Rockies and Giants have been linked to Nolasco.

Miami plans to trade Nolasco and moving him a month ahead of the trade deadline brings added value to a contender.

Dylan Bundy was scheduled to visit a specialist Tuesday because of lingering pain in his right forearm.

Bundy, who has not pitched this season because of forearm and elbow injuries, experienced a setback Monday during his throwing program and was shut down.

The 20-year-old will be examined by team orthopedist Dr. John Wilckens and renowned surgeon Dr. James Andrews.

The Orioles have optioned Freddy Garcia to Triple-A Norfolk.

Garcia has the right to decline the option and become a free agent.

The 36-year-old has no plans to retire.

Adam Jones and Mike Trout are well ahead in the American League All-Star voting, meaning the two outfielders are all but assured of a spot on the team.

The race for the third and final starting spot, however, is tight.

The Padres are intrigued by the possibility of acquiring Jake Arrieta from the Orioles.

Baltimore is one of the clubs that has interest in San Diego's Edinson Volquez.

Arrieta, 27, was the Orioles fifth-round choice in 2007.

The Padres might be able to work a trade involving Edinson Volquez with Baltimore, Philadelphia or Toronto.

The three clubs have scouted Volquez recently.

Volquez is 5-6 with a 5.67 ERA and 71 strikeouts in 87 innings this season.

Chris Davis hit his 27th home run on Friday night, giving him 50 extra-base hits.

Davis is just the seventh player to record 50 extra-base hits through 73 games since 1961.

He is hitting .336/.410/.724 and has 69 RBIs.
