Ron Gardenhire Interviews For Boston's Managerial Vacancy

Oct 19, 2017 5:50 PM

Ron Gardenhire has interview for the managerial vacancy of the Boston Red Sox.

Alex Cora and Brad Ausmus have also interviewed for the job and they may limit their search to those three candidates.

"We are still discussing if we will do that or not," Dave Dombrowski said in an e-mail.

Gardenhire was the manager of the Twins for 13 seasons. Gardenhire brings a reputation as a players' manager and was a help to first-year Diamondbacks manager Torey Lovullo.

Cora is considered the favorite for the job.

Dodgers Leave Hyun-Jin Ryu Off NLDS Roster

Oct 6, 2017 7:13 AM

The Los Angeles Dodgers have picked Alex Wood to start a possible Game 4 of the NLDS against the Arizona Diamondbacks, which means Hyun-Jin Ryu was left off the roster.

"If there is a Game 4, Alex Wood will start Game 4," Roberts said.

Wood had a 2.72 ERA during the regular season.

Ryu will still travel with the Dodgers in the event of an injury. The left-hander had a 3.77 ERA during the season.

"Although he's had a tremendous season, just seeing the role out of the pen, he's not comfortable with it," Roberts said. "So I think that as we go through matchups and looking at the roster, Alex is the clear choice to start Game 4."
