A day after he was told to vacate the premises, A.J. Burnett released a statement apologizing to anyone he offended with Sunday's postgame comments. He also thanked the organization and owner Jeffrey Loria for supporting him during his seven-year tenure with the team. "Although the 2005 season has been a disappointment to myself and our entire organization, it's my belief that every player on this club was totally and completely committed to bringing a world championship back to South Florida," Burnett said. After losing to the Braves on Sunday, Burnett accused manager Jack McKeon and the coaching staff of creating a negative atmosphere around the club. Before Monday's game, team officials informed Burnett he would not make his last scheduled start Friday and was asked to leave the team. Burnett will be paid his $139,617 weekly salary, but he missed out on the one inning he needed to collect a $50,000 bonus for totaling 210 innings. "I have always been a very passionate player and person," Burnett said. "I often wear my emotions on my sleeve, sometimes for better, sometimes for worse. I hope that my teammates always respect that of me, as I trust they know my commitment to winning."
