The Cleveland Indians released, then re-signed pitcher Juan Lara on Wednesday, according to the Associated Press. Lara was critically injured in a car accident in the Dominican Republic last November. He has been dropped from the team's 40-man roster, but the Indians will pay his 2008 salary in order to help cover his medical expenses. "We're fully supportive of Juan and want to make sure we do everything we can to help him return to a normal life," assistant GM Chris Antonetti said. "He's part of our family. "We wanted to make sure there is no interruption in his care and treatment," Antonetti added.
