It hardly comes as a shock, but second baseman Ray Durham said he plans to exercise his $7 million option and return for a fourth season with the Giants in 2006. "I told them I want to come back," Durham said Sunday. "I like the guys here. I like the organization and I like everything about San Francisco." The Giants could trade Durham, but he is giving the organization plenty of reasons to keep him. The 33-year-old switch-hitter went into Sunday's game batting .301. His average dipped to .299 after an 0-for-3 day, but he is threatening to finish at .300 or above for the first time in 11 major-league seasons (his best was .296 in 1999). Batting third, ahead of Barry Bonds, or fifth when Moises Alou does not play, should help his cause. "It's going to be interesting next year, especially if Barry plays a full year," Durham said. "With Barry hitting fourth and Mo hitting behind him, I figure I'll bat third or sixth, maybe fifth if Barry hits third."
