Carl Pavano doubts he will be recovered in time to pitch again in the regular season and wouldn't want to supplant another pitcher in the rotation to return for the postseason, the New York Post reported. "The protocol is six or seven weeks [of rest]," said Pavano, who is on the disabled list with shoulder tendinitis. "That only leaves a week [in the regular season]. "I don't think it's fair to all the guys who have been here all year battling for me to take up a spot. I don't think that's [a postseason-only return] a possibility at all." Pavano has been doing only cardiovascular and strengthening exercises sicne being put on the disabled list Aug. 10. "He's had a very frustrating year," Joe Torre told the paper. "I know he feels sort of funny walking in here.
